Before recommending a new unit, we check the logic board, drive gear, and sensors — most failures are a single component, not the whole system.
5 Star Garage Door Service trains Waverly, IL technicians on this exact service line so you're not the one teaching them on the job.
Every Waverly, IL technician on this service line carries documentation you can ask to see, and we expect the question.
Diagnostic tools read fault codes across brands, not just one proprietary system.
We check the logic board, drive gear, and sensors individually before recommending a full swap.
A sensor bumped out of alignment is often the actual fix behind a bigger-seeming problem.
We troubleshoot Wi-Fi connectivity including router and app-side issues, not just the unit.
The logic board controls nearly every function — diagnosis includes checking for burnt components and failed capacitors.
Stripped drive gears cause the classic hum-but-no-movement symptom — we inspect the full drive assembly since a stripped gear often follows an unbalanced door.
Lost remotes and unresponsive keypads get resolved on-site — often in minutes.
Sensors bumped out of alignment get realigned and re-tested — {a blinking light almost always means alignment or a dirty lens|we test full auto-reverse function after every repair|this is a fast, inexpensive fix compared to a full unit swap}.
A motor that struggles to start often points to a failing capacitor — we don't recommend a new unit until we've ruled out the cheap fix.

"""Diagnosed the issue over the phone almost exactly right before the tech even arrived."""
"""Opener kept reversing right before closing. Turned out to be a sensor bumped by my bike. Five-minute fix once found."""
"""Remote stopped working out of nowhere. Reprogrammed everything including my car's built-in button."""
"""Assumed I needed a whole new opener. Turned out to be a $40 capacitor."""
"""Smart opener wouldn't connect after a router upgrade. Sorted the Wi-Fi issue on-site."""
If replacement truly is better long-term, we'll explain exactly why.
This classically points to a stripped drive gear inside the unit.
Misaligned or dirty safety sensors are the most common cause.
If the hardware has actually failed, we'll explain why.
Cost depends on the specific component that's failed.
Parts availability narrows for very old models, but we'll always check first.
